Breakthrough Baroque is an educational chamber music ensemble that performs on period as well as modern instruments and teaches in schools around London. Our aim is to expose as many school children as possible to live music, with performances of baroque and classical pieces played on period instruments. We have a flexible ensemble, from trio to larger group, and tailor each session to our audience.

In our approach, the intention is to introduce these pieces of music in their own individual historical, national and stylistic contexts.

Although our workshops are lead by period performance players, they are all-inclusive and relevant to all students, regardless of their instrumental or vocal discipline, since the skills learnt are universally valuable.

Breakthrough Baroque offers schools affordable, professional concert performances in their school halls, combined with expert music tuition relevant to their curricula through specialist period performance practice. We are also happy to work with businesses and corporate employers, either to support away-day and team-building activities, but also to perform recitals or teach your staff - the ideal mid- or post-work therapy!

Members of Breakthrough Baroque would also be delighted to offer schools supplementary individual lessons to selected students that would benefit from this kind of tuition for their assessed performances. Please get in touch with us if you would like to discuss the possibilities for your school or institution.
